An educational book for children aged 5 to 7 years.

Aaron Apple and the Rain Jm Carydice 9781291231816 Books

Aaron Apple and the Rain describes the impact of droughts on the apple trees. The pictures look like they are targeting a pre-school audience, while the text is more advanced than that. The book lists the types of clouds and their names and discusses how two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen make water. I would like to have seen illustrations geared to an older age group to match the educational qualities covered in this book.

Aaron Apple and the Rain Jm Carydice 9781291231816 Books Reviews

It's a busy time in Kaiamaville. Spring is in full bloom, but there is no rain in sight and the apple tree is famishing for water. In order to grow big, juicy apples, the apple tree desperately needs rain. Aaron Apple is sitting under the tree, waiting for rain. He is worried, because if the rain arrives too late, the apple tree will lose its last apples and the villagers may not have enough fruit, and they could get sick because they lack many important vitamins. Left without a choice, Aaron Apple decides to look for Nimbostratus, the dark rain cloud.

Throughout the story, the author wisely introduces younger readers to the need for vitamins and the importance of fruit and vegetables for a person's body. Working in the field and simply chatting about rain with Billy Bean, Aaron Apple learns about water, which provides life for every living thing on earth.

Another hot day without rain and Aaron Apple visits his friends, and while helping in the field, he learns more about life on the farm.

Will rain fall in Kaiamaville? You'll find out when you read this lovely story, Aaron Apple and the Rain, written by JM Carydice. It's an informative story that parents can share with their children with a unique way to teach them about life's needs.

I read this book to my own child. He watched the beautiful illustrations and listened intently to the story repeating some of the longer words as I read them aloud. He was so engrossed that when I said 'the end' he immediately asked me to read it to him again.

I would highly recommend this book for educators in a classroom environment, for libraries and for parents looking for after school reading.

As an adult, it is always difficult to rate a children's book, but I have been reading several in recent days and am therefore probably better able to judge these books. This book is great, absolutely great for the primary shool children level. I have no hesitation recommending a read.
